It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Russell Sisson who was fundamental in creating the Haliburton Forest we all love, cherish and enjoy today. Russell had recently retired after 63 years of service (see retirement post August 7th) to Haliburton Forest from working in the original sawmill to building campsites and opening snowmobile trails, he was a regular sight in the orange tractor, big blue groomer and out patrolling on a snowmobile.Russell was a man who would tell great stories of the history of Haliburton Forest or we'd seek for help with finding a solution to any problem. His depth of knowledge and experience was overwhelmingly valuable in many diverse situations.Working at Haliburton Forest was more than a job to Russell, it was a way of life.Russell's legacy will continue in every part of Haliburton Forest.Our thoughts are with Doreen, Lisa, Kendra, Tanya, Sara and the rest of the Sisson family at this time. ...
