Stocking Lake Lodge is a private, remote collection of three accommodation buildings located deep within Haliburton Forest & Wild Life Reserve.

Designed for groups seeking an authentic wilderness experience, this off-grid facility operates using solar power and propane, with a backup generator for reliability. The site is intentionally low-impact and immersed in nature — there is no running water, and washroom facilities are traditional outhouse-style toilets. All buildings are heated using woodstoves, creating a warm and comfortable gathering space in cooler seasons.

The property also features a small dock and shallow swimming area for seasonal lake access and waterfront relaxation.

Stocking Lake Lodge is located approximately 35 minutes from Base Camp, accessed via maintained forest roads.

The site is made up of three distinct buildings designed to support group stays, shared meals, and communal programming.

Cookhouse

The cookhouse serves as the central gathering space for groups. This large, open-concept building includes:

  • Propane stovetop and ovens
  • Propane fridge and freezer
  • Cookware and kitchen equipment
  • Dining tables and seating for group meals and meetings

Dormitory

The dormitory is a large sleeping cabin featuring:

  • 13 private rooms
  • 26 beds total

Ideal for school groups, youth programs, and retreat groups that benefit from shared but separated sleeping space.

Bunkie

The bunkie provides additional flexible accommodation and includes:

  • Small living space
  • Two bedrooms
  • Two beds per bedroom

This space is often used for trip leaders, instructors, or families within a larger group.

Check in: 3:00 pm. Each person staying in our accommodations is required to sign a liability waiver upon check in.

Check out: On day of departure, please vacate the unit by 11:00 am; however you do have access to the property until the end of the check out day.

Property Access/Day Permits are included from the 3:00 pm check-in until midnight on the day of check-out.

Should you arrive after hours you will find a red message box outside of the Main Office. In this box you will find an envelope with your name. In the envelope will be keys and directions to your unit(s). All visitors are to check in to our Main Office by 11:00 am the following morning to register.

We require a Booking Document to be completed by EACH adult. One person should not be completing the documents on behalf of other adults. Youth can be included on one of the adult waivers.

These options can also be accessed immediately after making a reservation or through your booking confirmation.  Scroll to the bottom of your invoice and select the ‘View Required Documents’ button.

The Booking Documents can be shared and accessed by you and other members in your reservation:

1. The individual who has made the reservation and those in the same household can complete the Booking Documents by clicking ‘Fill Out Document’.  Note: When completing waivers immediately following an online reservation, once 1 document is complete you will be prompted to go back (so you can complete more) or continue to the next screen.

2. A ‘Share’ option is provided. Click ‘Share’, copy the link provided and text or email this to other members in your group.

3. Email each member in your group. By inputting their email address(es) a link will be sent directly to their email.

Waivers are saved to the invoice, so no need to print any copies!  For those unable to complete online, paper copies are available at the Main Office when checking in!
