September 30th, National Day for Truth and Reconci September 30th, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, originally and still known as Orange Shirt Day, is a day of memorial and mourning to recognize the atrocities and multi-generational impacts of the Canadian Indian Residential School system.   Today, we continue to recognize, grieve, and learn about the horrors that our friends, coworkers, and their families have endured for generations. This is a day for Indigenous communities to embrace one another, perform ceremony, check in on each other, rest, and mourn.   We wear orange as a symbol of remembrance – but our responsibility to learn, listen, and act continues all year long.
