SUMMARY:Fall Photography Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Guided Photography Wonders\nLead by David Sweeney\, participants will experience the beautiful sights of Haliburton Forest in the fall season. Your guide\, David is experienced in the art of photography and is an avid explorer of the forest. He will lead the group to a number of his favourite spots including scenic lookout points\, marsh areas\, as well as picture perfect sunset and sunrise locations. All locations are easily accessible by foot and car. This weekend workshop is best suited for adults. \nPlease note that we ask participants to drive their own vehicle or carpool for the weekend. \nFee: $195.00 per person\, plus HST. Includes: two lunches and  one breakfast at The Cookhouse\, entrance to the Wolf Centre as well as Haliburton Forest and a full schedule of photography opportunities. Packages including accommodations or camping are also available. At time of booking we will ask for payment in full in advance. Booking for accommodations/campsites can be added to your reservation. \nBook your space today! \nStay at Haliburton Forest in our housekeeping accommodations for the weekend at the weekday rate and save $50.00!  Two Bedroom Unit $125.00 per unit\, per night\, plus HST or a three bedroom unit $200.00 per unit\, per night\, plus HST. DESCRIPTION:Hear the howl of Haliburton Forest’s resident wolf pack\n \nCANCELLED ~ Unfortunately in light of recent events\, we have decided to cancel this event.  This was a difficult decision\, but we are doing our best to keep staff and visitors healthy and safe.  \nHave you ever heard the magical sound of wolves howling in unison? Every Thursday night in July and August we welcome the public to gather in our Seminar Building.  The evening will start with a short presentation on wolves\, their ecology and their relationships with humans.  Our staff will silently guide the group on a short walk into the twilight. When we reach just the right spot\, the guide will then howl to our resident wolf pack in attempt to initiate a response. We cannot guarantee the wolves will call back\, regardless we do have a good track-record! \nCost: Donations are greatly appreciated\, but not required.  This is an open event and we do not limit numbers.  No registration required. \nImportant Notes: This event is not suitable for dogs. We ask that you please leave them at home\, not in your vehicle. \nWant to learn more about the wolves? DESCRIPTION:Get Wild with Speaking of Wildlife\nSpeaking of Wildlife will be bringing the wild to Haliburton Forest for a one hour interactive presentation. Join us to learn about several native Ontarian species such as porcupine\, bobcat\, skunk\, hawk\, goose\, turtle\, owl\, snake or others! Speaking of Wildlife’s professional interpreter/s will share important information about each individual animal ambassador\, as well as their unique adaptations\, habitat and more! \nThe program will run outdoors on the Cookhouse lawn. Should the weather be poor\, the program will be moved back by one day. Masks are required to be worn and physical distancing regulations must be followed. \nWe recommend you bring a blanket or towel to sit on! No dogs/pets permitted. \nBring the whole family for this unique and educational evening. \nCost: $12.00/person or $45.00/ family of 4. DESCRIPTION:Rock Climbing on Natural Rocks\nCANCELLED ~ Unfortunately in light of recent events\, we have decided to cancel this event.  This was a difficult decision\, but we are doing our best to keep staff and visitors healthy and safe.  \nJoin us for an afternoon of high-flying\, climbing adventure. One of our experienced outdoor education staff will guide you through outdoor rock climbing wall. Test yourself and connect with nature as you face-off against our natural rock wall on one of three climbing routes. This activity is great for you and your partner\, team or family to bond and support one another. It is also a stimulating mental and physical challenge for all ages. \nIncluded: We will provide you with a light snack and drink\, but we strongly advise that you have lunch before this excursion and bring an additional water bottle of your own. \nRequirements: We do not have any set height or weight restrictions. Guest must be able to securely wear a provided harness\, and be 6 + years old. Close-toed shoes are required\, climbing or running shoes are recommended. Please dress for the weather and avoid all loose fitting clothing\, skirts and dresses. We ask that guests with long hair bring a hair elastic to tie it back with. \nCost: $55.00 per youth (ages 6-16)\, $75 per adult (age 17+)

DESCRIPTION:  \nDay Camp with a Twist\n \nCANCELLED ~ Unfortunately in light of recent events\, we have decided to cancel this event.  This was a difficult decision\, but we are doing our best to keep staff and visitors healthy and safe.  \nYou can adventure deeper into the forest and expand your horizons with a hybrid day/overnight camp experience! Youth who have developed a level of comfort in the outdoors are invited to this active camp.  Our Venture camp runs like a day camp\, but includes one overnight tent outing on the Thursday evening. This camp was established as a fun-filled way of learning or improving outdoor skills safe environment.  Ages 11-14  are invited to join us for this 5 day adventure. Great for first time over-nighters. \nActivities may include: mountain biking\, high ropes\, canoeing\, wolf howl\, etc. \nDates: August 3 – August 7\, 2020 \nTimes: Daily from 9:00am to 4:00pm\, Overnight Thursday                                                                                                                            Fees: $300 per youth plus HST.  Register online under our Summer Events! \nIncluded: All equipment needed for programming\, except personal gear for the Thursday night (i.e. sleeping bag\, clothing\, etc…). Join in the fun of exploring nature through a variety of outdoor activities\, games and skill-building challenges. This 5 day camp will help your child discover how great the outdoors are\, guided by our Outdoor Education staff. They will even get to create and take home their own pieces of nature. \nActivities may include: fire and shelter building\, Wolf Centre visit\, Sled Dog visit\, team building games and exercises. \nDates: July 27 – July 31\, 2020 \nTimes: Daily from 9:00am to 4:00pm \nFees: $200 per youth plus HST. \nIncludes:  All gear and equipment associated with activities.  Participants will pack their own personal gear and lunch for the day. \nParents – are you not sure what to do while your children are enjoying our camps?  We have lots of opportunities for parents while their children are exploring the Forest – Campsites\, Accommodations\, Cookhouse\, Trails\, and more!
