DESCRIPTION:  \nAnnual Speciality Lumber and Character Log Auction\nCANCELLED ~ Unfortunately in light the continuing Covid-19 restrictions and limitations\, we have decided to cancel this year’s Log and Lumber Auction.  This was a difficult decision\, but we are doing our best to keep staff and visitors healthy and safe.  We are looking at possibly rescheduling for 2022.  We will keep you posted.\nWood-aficionados are welcomed to our annual Specialty Lumber and Character Log Auction. At this event\, Haliburton Forest offers a large variety of wood related products. From run of the mill lumber and timbers\, to rarities and oddities. We will have hard and softwood lumber in a variety of dimensions and grades. Bird’s Eye Maple\, Tiger Beech\, Flaming Birch\, oversized Pine and Hemlock\, as well as speciality Oak and Cherry may be available. Other auction items may include: burls\, spalted wood blanks and ingrown trees from small to mammoth proportions.  This is an outdoor event that will run rain or shine. Participants should make sure to dress appropriately for the weather. \nAttendees will be able to view lots on Friday\, May 10 until 10:00 am on the auction day. Haliburton Forest will have generated all wood products on auction and as such they originate from sustainable forestry practices. We will have a mobile mill on-site for customized milling of purchased logs. Buyers can arrange delivery of purchased lots after payment. \nCost: There is no registration fee for this event. However\, you may not know that we are constantly conducting research.  Continuing to learn about our forest and its inhabitants is important in being able to effectively manage and work alongside them. Topics of study encompass many aspect of Haliburton Forest\, such as forest ecology\, climate change\, tree health\, pollinators\, etc… Join us for a Celebration of Research\, where our many partners will share their findings. Accordingly\, we are able to offer tours of our forestry operations and of the sawmill.\n\nAs an extension of its forest\, all products generated at the Haliburton Forest sawmill are certified by the internationally recognized Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®) as using only timber from our sustainable forestry operations\, a designation rarely achieved on this continent. This assures customers that the highest level of environmental and social care is being taken in the generation of all wood products at Haliburton Forest. \nFor 2021 we are happy to offer a modified tour during the April Spring Break (March Break) on Monday\, April 12\, Wednesday\, April 14\, and Friday April 16 from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. Accordingly\, we are able to offer tours of our forestry operations and of the sawmill.\n\nAs an extension of its forest\, all products generated at the Haliburton Forest sawmill are certified by the internationally recognized Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®) as using only timber from our sustainable forestry operations\, a designation rarely achieved on this continent. This assures customers that the highest level of environmental and social care is being taken in the generation of all wood products at Haliburton Forest. \nFor 2021 we are happy to offer a modified tour during the April Spring Break (March Break) on Monday\, April 12\, Wednesday\, April 14\, and Friday April 16 from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. DESCRIPTION:Explore a true winter wonderland at Haliburton Forest with photographer\, David Sweeney!\nAfter a short morning photography workshop\, take your skills over to the Wolf Centre to photograph our resident pack of stunning timber wolves. Prepare for yourself for some winter hiking as you trek through the forest. During this guided experience\, you will have the opportunity to photograph passing snowmobiles\, and maybe even dog sleds (weather permitting)! This weekend workshop is best suited for adults and photographers of any skill level. \nFee: $115 per person\, plus HST. Includes: lunch from The Cookhouse\, entrance to the Wolf Centre as well as Haliburton Forest and a full schedule of photography opportunities.  At time of booking we ask for full payment. \nBook your space today under Winter Events! \nMake a weekend of it\, and stay overnight in one of our house-keeping units.
