Every Thursday night in July and August we welcome the public to gather in our Seminar Building.  The evening will start with a short presentation on wolves\, their ecology and their relationships with humans.  Our staff will silently guide the group on a short walk into the twilight. When we reach just the right spot\, the guide will then howl to our resident wolf pack in attempt to initiate a response. We cannot guarantee the wolves will call back\, regardless we do have a good track-record! \nCost: Donations are greatly appreciated\, but not required.  This is an open event and we do not limit numbers.  No registration required. \nImportant Notes: This event is not suitable for dogs. We are one of the rare few who have achieved this designation on this continent! We assure you that we take the highest level of environmental and social care in the generation of all wood products at Haliburton Forest by following these practices. \n\n\nTours run every Thursday throughout the summer in July and August. DESCRIPTION:Capture Nature\nExplore Haliburton Forest with photographer David Sweeney during the peak summer season. David will lead the group\, and\nprovide onsite assistance to photographers looking to expand their skills in the area of landscape and nature photography. Pack a lunch\, as the group will be out all day exploring a number of area’s of the forest where there are both stunning landscapes\, and beautiful waterscapes\, rivers and streams\, and old cabins. \n  \nSample Itinerary: \n8:10 am – Seminar on Landscape Photography\n9:00 am – Group carpools out into the forest to first locations.\n12:00 pm – Group will coordinate to meet at a shelter cabin for lunch\,\nand a small campfire (depending on fire regulations at this time).\n1:00 pm – Group continues to various locations in the forest.\n4:00 pm – Group heads to Wolf Centre\n5:00 pm – Group heads to base camp\, end of day.\nOPTIONAL: Members of the group that are going to be staying\nlocally\, are welcomed to join David for sunrise shoot the following\nmorning. DESCRIPTION:Join us for tour of our Sawmill\nAt Haliburton Forest\, we are proud of our involvement in the timber industry. As such\, we are happy to share our knowledge about the land and wood processing with the public. Accordingly\, we are able to offer tours of our forestry operations and of the sawmill. \nAll products generated at the Haliburton Forest sawmill are certified by the internationally recognized Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®) as using only timber from our sustainable forestry operations. We are one of the rare few who have achieved this designation on this continent! We assure you that we take the highest level of environmental and social care in the generation of all wood products at Haliburton Forest by following these practices. \n\n\nTours run every Thursday throughout the summer in July and August. Reserve your spot today! Our tours start at 1:00 pm. We require a minimum of 6 participants to run the tour.  Kindly give us at least two days notice if you are interested in joining us for this tour. \nCost: $30 per family (2 adults\, 2 youth)\, $20 per individual. Partnered with individuals as well as organisations\, these 1-2 hour Tuesday night seminars will vary in themes. Topics may cover research being conducted at Haliburton Forest\, natural landscapes and ecosystems\, local flora and fauna\, or even environmental concerns. DESCRIPTION:Discover the forest with friends!\nThis youth Discovery Day Camp returns this year  for ages 7 – 10. Join in the fun of exploring nature through a variety of outdoor activities\, games and skill-building challenges. This 5 day camp will help your child discover how great the outdoors are\, guided by our Outdoor Education staff. They will even get to create and take home their own pieces of nature. \nActivities may include: fire and shelter building\, Wolf Centre visit\, Sled Dog visit\, team building games and exercises. \nDates: July 29 – August 2 \nTimes: Daily from 9:00am to 4:00pm \nFees: $200 per youth plus HST.  Register Online under our Summer Events! \nIncludes:  All gear and equipment associated with activities.  Participants will pack their own personal gear and lunch for the day. \nParents – are you not sure what to do while your children are enjoying our camps?  We have lots of opportunities for parents while their children are exploring the Forest – Campsites\, Accommodations\, Cookhouse\, Trails\, and don’t forget to visit our Moose Hershe!  Check out our Events page and see if there are other activities you would like to participate in! \nDo you want to mix it up and see what else there is in Haliburton? DESCRIPTION:Climb the afternoon away!\nNew this year\, join us for an afternoon of high-flying\, climbing adventure. One of our experienced outdoor education staff will guide you through our high ropes course and outdoor rock climbing wall. Test yourself while navigating the obstacles on-high and connect with nature as you face-off against our natural rock wall on one of three climbing routes. This activity is great for you and your partner\, team or family to bond and support one another. It is also a stimulating mental and physical challenge for all ages. \nCost: $55/youth (ages 8-16)\, $75/adult (age 17+) \nReserve your spot today\, under Summer events! \nDates: July 4\, 15\, 27 and August 18\, 29. \nIncluded: We will provide you with a light snack and drink\, but we strongly advise that you have lunch before this excursion and bring an additional water bottle of your own. \nRequirements: We do not have any set height or weight restrictions. Guest must be able to securely wear a provided harness\, and be 6 + years old. Close-toed shoes are required\, climbing or running shoes are recommended. Please dress for the weather and avoid all loose fitting clothing\, skirts and dresses. We ask that guests with long hair bring a hair elastic to tie it back with. \nAre you a huge fan of heights? Try out our Canopy Tour too! Or if you prefer to explore closer to the ground\, we have over 400 km of hiking and biking trails to be discovered.

DESCRIPTION:Fascinated by the night sky above?\nBook a space for the whole family on one of our summer astronomy programs. Take a walk with our onsite astronomer who will guide you through the stars.  A typical evening astronomy program lasts approximately 1.5 to 2 hours\, and runs rain or shine.  Programs fill fast so make sure to register early! \nCost: $20.00 per adult & $15.00 per child (17 & under) \nMake a day of it and visit us earlier in the afternoon so you can pay a visit to our Wolf Centre\, or join us for a Wolf Howl.
