DESCRIPTION:At Haliburton Forest\, we are proud of our involvement in the timber industry\, and we are happy to share our knowledge about the land and wood processing with the public. Accordingly\, we are able to offer tours of our forestry operations and of the sawmill.\n\nThe Sawmill is the core operation of our Forest Products division. It is a mid-sized hardwood mill producing approximately 25\,000 boardfeet per day. Our primary species are Hard maple but we also manufacture lumber from any of the hardwood species that grow in the 100\,000 acres that we own and manage at Haliburton Forest. \nAs an extension of its forest\, all products generated at the Haliburton Forest sawmill are certified by the internationally recognized Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®) as using only timber from our sustainable forestry operations\, a designation rarely achieved on this continent. This assures customers that the highest level of environmental and social care is being taken in the generation of all wood products at Haliburton Forest. \nSawmill tours run every Thursday throughout the summer in July and August. At this event\, Haliburton Forest offers a large variety of wood related products. From run of the mill lumber and timbers\, to rarities and oddities. We will have hard and softwood lumber in a variety of dimensions and grades. Bird’s Eye Maple\, Tiger Beech\, Flaming Birch\, oversized Pine and Hemlock\, as well as speciality Oak and Cherry may be available. Other auction items may include: burls\, spalted wood blanks and ingrown trees from small to mammoth proportions.  This is an outdoor event that will run rain or shine. Participants should make sure to dress appropriately for the weather. \nAttendees will be able to view lots on Friday\, May 10 until 10:00 am on the auction day. Haliburton Forest will have generated all wood products on auction and as such they originate from sustainable forestry practices. We will have a mobile mill on-site for customized milling of purchased logs. Buyers can arrange delivery of purchased lots after payment. \nCost: There is no registration fee for this event. DESCRIPTION:This event has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 Provincial Emergency Brake. \nThe Haliburton Forest Base Camp has a history that is more than 120 years old.  Even the forest around Base Camp is a place of constant and surprising change.  Join the Forest Management Staff of Haliburton Forest and hear how people\, events and ecology have shaped the little ridge of land between Kennisis and Redstone\, and how it may continue to change in the future.  This will be a 2 hour guided walk around Base Camp and some of Haliburton Forest’s nearby hiking trails. \nForestry Tours will run Sunday\, Thursday and Saturday of the ‘March Break’ this April. \nBook now: Here
