Opportunities
Throughout the year, Haliburton Forest offers a
variety of employment opportunities! With a core
staff of over 40 employees, our team is as diverse
as can be imagined. A wide variety of skills is
applied at Haliburton Forest and with the diversity
of its operation and the appeal of its natural
resources, staff play a prominent role in the day to
day running of this unique organisation. Haliburton
Forest is a growing company and positions from
forestry and outdoor education to office management
and maintenance become available from time to time.
While most positions at Haliburton Forest are long
term or permanent, seasonal positions are offered
during summer and winter.
All Positions for 2007 have been filled. We
expect to be hiring the following staff in the
spring of 2008 :
Outdoor Education Specialist
Description: To deliver to a wide variety of
client groups, outdoor, environmental and
experiential education programs at Haliburton
Forest. The tasks include instruction, guidance,
education and facilitation. Successful applicants
are expected to provide a safe environment for
clients, develop and plan programs, assist in the
coordination of special events as well as in the
general maintenance of site and facilities. During
the winter outdoor education staff are deeply
involved in the dogsled tour operation of Haliburton
Forest.
Requirements:
- Completed an undergraduate degree in teaching
or outdoor education/recreation and related
field experience;
- Current first aid and CPR;
- Current Bronze Cross;
- Ropes course/climbing experience is an asset
- Creative, energetic, and able to participate
fully in active programs;
- Well developed communication and presentation
skills:
- A broad base of experience teaching and
leading outdoor and group focused activities;
- Ability to work independently in a dynamic
environment;
- Experience in maintaining, site, facilities
and equipment is an asset
Haliburton Forest's
Internship Program:
Haliburton Forest also operates an extensive
internship program, designed to provide participants
with experiences and skills in fields, otherwise
difficult to access. In particular internship
positions are available in Outdoor Education,
Forestry and Horselogging. Internships commonly run
for 4 months, commencing in January, May and
September. Room and board is provided during the
internship and participation in all aspects of
Haliburton Forest's operation is an integral part of
the internship experience.
